Philippines Culinary Experience, Raffles Hotel, South Jakarta

Indonesia l English

Another time I visited this luxurious hotel restaurant with its majestic-looking structure, artistic interiors and bright colors throughout the hotel. The main restaurant here is Arts Cafe. This is not my first visit here, but this time with Chef Chele Gonzalez from Gallery Vask, restaurant from Philippines presents a variety of special foods from there that are very interesting.
Gallery Vask is a restaurant in the Philippines that entered into the list of 50 Best Asia Restaurant with the order no. 35. He came to Indonesia following Jakarta Culinary Feastival lasted a week ago. This time at Raffles Jakarta, he presents a special dish with Filipino cuisines.
The concept of buffet dining at Raffles, we were served with various western, asia to Indonesia and dessert. Every day will also be available with special dishes that are served with an a la carte presentation and usually consist of 4 to 5 kinds of food.
In accordance with Chele specialist, today's special dish is Filipino food starting from Okoy, shrimp cracker with a crisp texture served with chopped shrimp, ginger cream and savory soy gel. The second menu is sardines served over a dark-colored beetroot cracker, then comes with cashew praline and caviar. The dominant salty taste gives a pleasant sensation.
Followed by the next menu is Tradito, a dish of tuna with a thick white mayo herb dressing. Fresh tuna with a soft texture combined with a sweet mayo flavor provides the right balance. In addition to Tuna, there is also an oyster dish on a spoon served with a thick coconut cream. Fresh ingredients are certainly the key to delicious cuisine and the dominant coconut flavor gives a unique blend of flavors.
The last special dish is bukayo, a typical Philippines sweet dessert with crispy texture made from coconut and then wrapped with caramelized sweet brown sugar. Frankly I'm not a sweet lover, so this bukayo really feels very sweet that is very strong in my palate.
Do not miss the popular menu from the Philippines namely Pork Lechon, roast pork with large pieces, brownish-colored skin with a crisp texture. The meat is white and the fat looks juicy. The meat is quite tender, it's just a crisp skin texture will be better if not too hard.
The overall lunch time was memorable enough where I can enjoy unique Filipino dishes. Where we know that here is also quite rare to find a Filipino restaurant. In addition, there is no doubt, the elegant and comfortable atmosphere of the Arts Cafe provides a pleasurable dining experience. Then there are also buffet choices are quite diverse and I can say this time the taste of food is better than before.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors

Black Owl, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English A favorite destination for the Jakarta community, which is famous for its hawker centers, from street food, restaurants to elegant lounge bars. This week, another good news for restaurant and bar fans, Black Owl is back in operation from the previous location in the PIK 1 area, now they are presented new location with a different concept. As soon as you pass through this area, you can clearly see the Black Owl with a black building with an owl logo on it. Seen the parking area is quite large and still not too crowded during the day. Once inside, we will pass through a hallway with a very high ceiling. My suggestion is it's best to make a reservation in advance to save your table. Black Owl comes with a restaurant and bar concept, a very stunning interior with dominant dark colors such as black and dark wooden material throughout the large room. The dim lights look calm and elegant, and what's amazing is the giant LCD screen that stretches to the ceiling. There
