Fat Shogun, BTPN Tower, South Jakarta

Indonesia l English

Fat Shogun, restaurant that brings the concept of Peruvian-Nikkei has been established since the end of 2016. In accordance with the concept, the interior in the restaurant also carries the theme of Japanese-style architecture. Its location at Rooftop Tower of BTPN provides a comfortable atmosphere with beautiful views of Jakarta city, especially at evening.
On this visit, Fat Shogun is collaborating with Farnese Vini, Italian wine producer, to hold Wine Dinner. at this event is available 5 menu wine pairing and 1 dessert menu to be served. Starting from fresh appetizers to sweet desserts.
1. Amuse Bouche - Seared Scallop Olive Tapanada & Lemon Dressing. It comes with Fantini Gran Cuvee Bianco Swarovski. Scallop with a solid texture and a little chewy, it tastes fresh and sour coming from the dressing. Paired with sparkling wine, has a light taste and soda quite a lot. A suitable combination to enhance your appetite.
2. Appetizer - Mushroom Shitake Parmesan Chips. Served with Fantini Pinot Grigio - Terre Degli Osci Igp. Shitake mushrooms are seeps with teriyaki sauce so it tastes sweet and savory. The texture is slightly chewy and added topping chopped mushroom and parmesan chips. While pairing wine is white wine with a slightly sweet taste, but stronger than sparkling wine.
3. 1st Main Course - Grilled Gindara & Foei Gras with Black Truffle Sauce. Served with Pipoli Rosato Basilicata Igt. Gindara is perfectly cooked so the texture is still very soft and smoky flavor outside. On it was foei gras and black truffle sauce that had good aroma since the first bite. Paired with white wine, the right combination and my favorite menu here.
4. 2nd Main Course - Beef Ravioli with Aioli Blue Cheese combined with Zolla Primitivo - Merlot Puglia Igp. On the plate is served 3 Ravioli with blue cheese topping, the texture is similar to chinese dumplings. While the wine pairing is Merlot, but with a pretty sweet taste and not too dry. This is because the wine used comes from Italy from a snow-covered area resulting in different flavors.
5. 3rd Main Course - Surf & Turf (Tenderloin & Prawn) with Edizione Cinque Autoctoni Vdt. A good combination of Beef Tenderloin cooked medium well with misoyaki sauce that tastes salty and seared prawn with saffron sauce creamy and slightly sour cream. As a side dish there is mashed purple yam which is quite dense and taste a bit sweet. While wine pairing is red wine with a fairly dry taste, and bitter after taste. Simply balanced as a wine cover to neutralize the flavors.
6. Dessert - Yucamochi Dessert. Paired with Coffee or Tea. Made from Peruvian-style cassava cake, the texture is solid and slightly chewy. Served with a coconut sorbet that taste sweet fitting and a pretty strong coconut scent.
It's a wonderful Peruvian wine dinner experience, especially through the menus paired with the wine and ambiance restaurant is very convenient. Not to forget other than while enjoying the food and wine, we also treated to views of the city of Jakarta from a quite amazing height.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors ...
