Esencia Peruana, Lyon, Mandarin Oriental, Central Jakarta

Indonesia l English

The second time I had the opportunity to enjoy a unique and exciting Peruvian dinner experience. This time housed in one of the 5 star hotels that have been long enough to operate in Jakarta. The Mandarin Oriental located in the heart of Jakarta is one of the most popular hotel in town.
There are several restaurants and lounge available at the hotel. For the Peruvian set menu will be available at Lyon restaurant which is a French theme. The event starts from 21st to 25th November 2017. A chef from Peru, Jorge Tomita will be here to present a set menu of Peruvian food that is certainly ready to shake the tongue.
The Lyon concept is a French restaurant with classic elegant interiors, dominant soft cream colors throughout the room, then a red carpet that provides a touch of beauty and photos of the city of Peru in the past. The classic atmosphere is felt in this restaurant. Tonight chef Jorge will present some typical Peruvian menu that starts from the appetizer.
My first favorite menu is Ceviche Mixto, a seafood dish with chunks of shrimp and fish served in the Leche De Tigre, a kind of peruvian citrus marinated with sour taste. In addition, there are also pieces of sweet potatoes and nuts as a complement to enjoyed with.
Then there is Tiradito, fish dishes as well as different presentations, salmon slices in a peruvian marinated sauce with a dark red color and also a sour taste that is quite dominant. Other appetizer options are Solterito Tataki, tuna slices with seductive colors served with quinoa, baby tomato slices, cheese slices and doused with dark black sauces that provide a savory taste.
After some appetizers, it's time we eat the main menu consisting of Sudado, a typical North Peruvian fish dish doused with sudado sauce that tastes savory and sweet potato flavor gives the right balance of taste. In addition to fish, of course there is also a menu using chicken with classic Peruvian style. Aji De Gallina is a serving of chicken meat slow cooked with yellow chilli, so that it is seeps into it and served with a few pieces of potato. The creamy flavors are concentrated and savory combined to give a pretty impressive sensation.
After enjoying the main menu, do not miss the time for dessert. One of them Suspiro A La Limeña, dessert dish from the 18th century, serving blanco menjar with processed merengue served cold. The very dominant and sweet taste are very strong here. I think this dessert is very sweet, besides it is also served along with sponge cake like a classic sponge in general.
Other desserts include Churros Con Dulce De Leche, a pretty familiar menu, churros with bright brown color served with sweet milk marmalade and cold vanilla ice cream ready to accompany. Churros with a crisp texture, a fragrant aroma is very delicious once enjoyed while warm.
Experience of Peruvian set menu is very impressive where I can taste a different  kind of food. In addition, every meal is served with a seductive presentation and produce beautiful photos. Not to forget, Lyon restaurant service should be a 5-star hotel would be a contributing factor of this exciting dinner experience.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
