Marco Padang Grill, Plaza Indonesia Mall

These time i am sure posting many of past stories which is i took quite time for break last weeks. I'd like to mention about one Padang restaurant spotted at malls. Marco Padang Grill, as by this time they have been opened several branches in town and they are built-up padang restaurant concept in shopping malls.

At Plaza Indonesia, it is located on 5th floor just exactly at the corner, much recognizable when we were pass through from the escalator going up. From front side, sure Marco letter is much visible, huge and bright by the lights.

Inside restaurant is built in calm, dark and classic theme with oldies paintings on a walls, oldies decoration, black color of chairs and tables. I guess they are bringing up a modern Padang concept but keep up the traditional and classic Padang that we used to see and have.

Without took long time, we just ordered several of recommended dish in here. First came out is Pete Kacamata. It is deep fried bitter bean tossed with finely ground chili pesto.

It is tasty, i like the seasoning. It has sour and spice blended well together. Also it has crunchy texture. The i have Nasi Sayo, it is steamed solok rice with special curry sauce, dried beef in grated coconut served along with chili.

Not a huge portion, but it is economical enough about Rp 21,000. It has nice taste, but just as you know, not any beef meat in here. Only tiny scratch of beef fat in rendang spices. I also have the Barramundi Panggang Pacak. It is looks stunning with golden orange color and shape. But honestly this is little barramundi piece on plate.

It has good taste though, perfect texture and seasoned well done. I guess the whole fish would be better and worth it. I ordered single one actually which is really small portion i got, not satisfied enough.

Don't forget i also have fried chicken just to fit the bill. Nothing much to describe, it is just fine fried chicken. At least it is crunchy but not much seasoning.

For the drink, i have the Teh Telok. It is from West of Sumatra, tea with various other ingredients blended along together. Milk, egg yolk, sugar, and squeeze of lime. It has nice flavor though, warm and calm, not sweet.

Overall i may say they have good enough food but not so Padang i guess. i just think there's many better padang restaurant with more seasoning, spices and more classified. Also, for your note, it is not really saving money spot when you need to pay hundreds rupiah with quite tiny portion of foods. Marco Kitchen Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
