Claypot Popo, Menteng, Central Jakarta

Available in Bahasa: Click Here

With so many restaurants and food in modern style, make us able to choose different food every day. With a unique and distinctive concept, and of course including great packaging to attract the attention of visitors.

In this moment, classic food is not left behind and remains an option for people. What about classic food combined with a modern style ?! Claypot Popo is located in Menteng, Central Jakarta. The place is small, loading about 5-10 people I think.

My visit this time together with my friends foodies about 20 people. With such a small place, the atmosphere was super crowded and the heat was so felt in the room. The food offered is very interesting, an authentic Hakka dishes.

Uniquely, the presentation of each food is served on a claypot that is commonly used in Chinese. In Indonesia,we still rarely find dishes served on claypot made of clay. The menu offered is not so much, about 5-8 from the main menu to the side menu.

One of my favorites is Claypot Dadar Caipoh, fried rice with caipoh & carrots, then served with a caipoh omelet along with a salted fish. As a lover of saltiness, I am very happy with this one, a warm rice with salty caipoh plus the savory taste of eggs and salted fish is so delicious.

In addition, there has a menu with an interesting presentation that is, Claypot Siram Telur Mentah (Rice poured with thick sauce and topped with raw egg). The grilled rice dish is doused with savory creamy sauce plus raw egg on top, then comes with carrots, corn, parsley leaves and meat pieces.

How to eat this, only by stirring all the components in the claypot until evenly to get a surprise taste so delicious. The flavor of the burned rice texture gives a crisp sensation, along with the right viscosity and savory taste of the seasoning.

If you do not like raw eggs, then you can choose Claypot Siram Egg Mature menu with almost the same components, but using eggs that have been cooked. I think for those who use raw eggs taste better and more evenly if stirred with rice.

With the classic food menu like this, do not forget also have a drink. We may enjoy coffee milk or home milk tea that gives nostalgia to the past. With a simple appearance but offers a good taste.

Although it is small and was surrounded by hot atmosphere, I felt the experience of enjoying good home cooking. Moreover from the Hakka family, the menu offered in Claypot Popo is perfect for my tongue. Maybe we couldn't get the typical service of a five-star restaurant, but we could feel the atmosphere home-friendly and not to miss the affordable price of food.

Black Owl, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English A favorite destination for the Jakarta community, which is famous for its hawker centers, from street food, restaurants to elegant lounge bars. This week, another good news for restaurant and bar fans, Black Owl is back in operation from the previous location in the PIK 1 area, now they are presented new location with a different concept. As soon as you pass through this area, you can clearly see the Black Owl with a black building with an owl logo on it. Seen the parking area is quite large and still not too crowded during the day. Once inside, we will pass through a hallway with a very high ceiling. My suggestion is it's best to make a reservation in advance to save your table. Black Owl comes with a restaurant and bar concept, a very stunning interior with dominant dark colors such as black and dark wooden material throughout the large room. The dim lights look calm and elegant, and what's amazing is the giant LCD screen that stretches to the ceiling. There

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
