Tamarind, Luang Prabang, Laos

Bahasa l English

Visiting Luang Prabang is certainly my main destination to taste the unique Lao local food. In accordance with some recommendations from online articles and also the hotel receptionist, there are some famous Lao restaurant names in this town. One of them is Tamarind, a local restaurant that has been operating for quite a long time and become a popular destination of foreign tourists.
In keeping with the previous article i said, that it is not difficult for us to explore in Luang Prabang by bicycle. Close access almost reaches the corner of downtown Luang Prabang. Including Tamarind, I only need about 5-10 minutes to arrive here from Burasari Heritage hotel.
Before coming here it's good if you make a reservation at first. Besides the place is not too big and will be very crowded by customers especially during lunch hour. A simple restaurant with a not-too-large area, there is an indoor and a terrace overlooking Nam Khan River.
The menu consists of authentic and unique Lao specialties. Quite a lot of choices from vegetables to meat and fish, according to the recommendation of hotel staff, the menu must try here is Luang Prabang Tasting Platter. Set menu with a variety of typical Laotian dishes served in one package at a time.
There are vegetables, typical Laotian chili sauce, Chicken soup, eggplant, chili & vegetables, pork sausage and boiled vegetables. The presentation is quite interesting, traditional local food served to international tourists. Each food produces different flavors. Soup with a distinctive aroma of spices and quite dominant, there may be some people will not like this one. Pork sausage with a dense texture and delicious flavor and red chili with the aroma of shrimp paste has a really spicy flavor.
All elements here will be enjoyed together with sticky rice provided in small bamboo pots. Unlike sticky rice that we usually find in Thai rice with a sweet taste. Here sticky rice without seasoning at all like white rice normally.
In addition to the savory menu, of course here we can also enjoy a typical Laos dessert. Again they serve a traditional dessert with a more modern and stunning presentation. It's just for the overall taste offered are all dominantly sweet and very familiar with the local snack in Indonesia. What is interesting is the fruit of the pumpkin is processed with a soft and sweet texture and then served with a pudding in the middle. For the price of 35,000 KIP or about Rp 60,000, I feel less worth it, many choices of local dessert in other countries that have more special taste and unique.
Do not forget to try Lao's Coffee. Laos typical coffee which is one of the choice souvenirs when vacationing here. Dark brown color with layer, coffee taste is quite dominant with sweet palm sugar. Lovely enjoyed both warm or cold.
To taste the main menu is quite satisfactory. Each element presented has a different taste. But for dessert may be tried for an experiement, but once again I say that the resulting taste similar as a local meal in Indonesia. For the price is standard. Given that Tamarind is one of the destinations of foreign tourists while on holiday in Luang Prabang, of course they also set the price according to the standard.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors ...

Real Ingredients of Japan, Sushi Maru, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English 2022 is here! Welcoming the new year with joy and enthusiasm. This time I will tell you about a Japanese restaurant in the Golf Island area, PIK which is currently one of the trending destinations in Jakarta. It is undeniable that Japanese cuisine has indeed become one of Jakarta's society's favorites, so many Japanese restaurants can be found here. As a lover of authentic food, I really prefer Japanese restaurants that prioritize quality ingredients and classic tastes, although the current twist food variant is also very interesting. Sushi Maru has been operating since the end of 2021, with a Japanese feel in general using a wooden theme interior throughout the area. There are two floors with a large area capacity. But keep in mind, you should make a reservation before coming here, especially on weekends. One of the top menus here is Japanese Oyster, especially Reiwa Oyster, this dish is only available upon request. With a size that is much larger than the lo...
