AB Steak by Chef Akira Back, MD Place Mezzanine, South Jakarta

Available in Bahasa: Click Here

Enjoying grilled meat can certainly be one of the joyful experiences for meat lovers. This time I had the opportunity to taste steak at an exclusive restaurant located in Setiabudi area, south of Jakarta. With a dark dominant interior gives a very elegant touch.

All elements have perfect details starting from the interior, the desk, the chair, the cutlery and not forgetting the one that catches my attention was the smoke look that resembles the embers and it turns out to use steam technique so it does not heat up. We also able to find a little touch of Korean elements at some point.

The place is not too wide where there are only 13 tables so we need to make reservations before visiting here. In accordance with the subject, AB Steak is presented by Chef Akira Back who is quite familiar to us with his restaurants Akira Back.

At here, the menu offered is quite different i.e. the steakhouse with menu Korean fusion as well. This time I was with some Jakarta foodies and we were really excited about this fast breaking event. Before enjoying the steak, we were served with some appetizers like tuna yukke, tuna served beautifully with cucumber and shredded scallion on top of a crisp seaweed.

It feels fresh and perfect with the delicious taste of sesame sauce. Then there's Foie Gras Bimbim, one of the Korean fusion menu which is also presented with a beautiful presentation. A strong Korean taste with topping foei gras that is so delish.

With the theme of the steakhouse, of course, the star for this time was a steak with a variety of options. AB Steak offers the experience of enjoying grilled steaks with premium quality wagyu meats. One of my most favorite is T-Bone with medium rare level. T-bone is a piece of beef usually taken from short-loin with bone forming the letter T with the meat around it. With professional technique and fast cutting of meat, I was stunned.

The aroma of wagyu meat that was so fragrant and very tempting. Good news, in T-bone this time, it turns out there was a fillet mignon. This is the part that usually located at the end of the tenderloin, with small pieces and very soft. Therefore, it is usually sold at a price that is more expensive than other meat parts.

After enjoying the various steaks, do not forget we also served with a beautiful dessert. There was a special Chocolate Souffle, a tantalizing presentation that also has a taste that is so legit. Dark brown flavor, souffle texture that is so soft and fragrant plus frangelico ice cream cold and delightful.

The whole experience of dinner here was certainly satisfying. With such an exclusive atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service and not forgetting every table is supported by lights with good lighting making it easy for me to take photos of every meals.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
