Jamuan Samudra, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta

Available in Bahasa: Click Here

From long time ago, seafood became one of my favorite foods. Surely it must be with the quality of fresh ingredients and proper cook technique. Currently, in Jakarta it is very easy for us to find restaurants or eatery that offer a variety of seafood with different options.

This time, I visited one of the seafood restaurants with a fairly exclusive Indonesian concept. From the outside, looks like a white house with a two floors building. Go inside through the glass door, we would be greeted by a display of boats that are displayed in the corner of the room.

Jamuan Samudra has a spacious room with a capacity of approximately 30-50 people at the first floor. At that time I did not go up so I do not know how the interior upstair. The rainy weather was so exciting and I was more excited and can not wait to taste the food here.

There is a wide selection of seafood menu with a variety of spices variants. Without long wait I was ordered some foods like Typical Calamari of the Jamuan Samudra. Fried calamari wrapped in flour with special seasoning. The flavor and aroma so strong was very tasty, but when eaten for a while, the spices almost covered the whole taste of the calamari.

Then, I tried the Padang Sauce Shrimp, one of the recommendations dish here. Beautiful shrimp slices with reddish-colored sauces provide a very tempting aroma. The texture of shrimp that fit and fresh combined with a spicy sauce and it is delicious.

And one of my favorite seafood is the Green Shell with Black Pepper Sauce. A plate with a considerable amount of shellfish was served with a thick black pepper sauce. The flavor that was so strong from the sauce also spicy from the pepper made me need to drink for several times during enjoy this menu.

Overall, they do deserves thumbs up with all seafood ingredients used were fresh and not fishy. The texture of seafood with the right cook technique, usual presentation but a sizeable portion with a suitable price can certainly be a choice for lunch or dinner.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
