Dapur Indonesia Cooking Class, Samsara, Senopati, South Jakarta

Available in Bahasa: Click Here

This week is a new experience for me, attended a cooking class held by one Indonesian restaurant with an elegant interior and famous for beautiful Indonesian food presentation.
This time, I along with some other participants were invited to learn how to make a typical Manado cuisine. Of course it is not foreign to us like dabu-dabu, rica-rica and klapertart. The event started in the morning around 10:00 am, seen all the equipment and ingredients have been provided on the long table along with cooking menu recipe.
We were guided by Chef Sambas Sanusi Herman who is Corporate Chef Terra Gastronomy and Chef Parjiyo as Executive Chef. The event started with a cooking demo with the first menu, Salmon Tataki Saos Dabu Dabu. The fried salmon is served along with the typical sauce of Manado, dabu dabu. The ingredients used are green tomato, garlic, shallot, chili, ginger flower, red tomato, etc.
Quite a lot of the type of ingredients used, this is indeed a characteristic of Indonesia is rich in spices and herbs to produce an amazing taste. Salmon with medium rare level provides a very soft and juicy texture. In addition, the typical dabu-dabu flavor gives the sensation of savory sour and spicy perfectly combined.
For the second menu, Tuna Rica-Rica. The ingredients used to make rica rica sauce is quite a lot in accordance with the character of Indonesian cuisine. We use chili, large chili, onion, garlic, lime leaves, basil, lemongrass, ginger and etc. As a beginner, I'm having trouble remembering all the ingredients needed, but with a guide from chef and teamwork so we can be creative to make a nice rica-rica sauce.

The amazing thing about this event was the plating of food that Chef Sambas demonstrated was very impressive. It looked so easy for him to create his creations on a plate with ingredients already cooked into food with a classy look. And of course in addition to a beautiful presentation, the flavors presented are also perfect.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors

Black Owl, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English A favorite destination for the Jakarta community, which is famous for its hawker centers, from street food, restaurants to elegant lounge bars. This week, another good news for restaurant and bar fans, Black Owl is back in operation from the previous location in the PIK 1 area, now they are presented new location with a different concept. As soon as you pass through this area, you can clearly see the Black Owl with a black building with an owl logo on it. Seen the parking area is quite large and still not too crowded during the day. Once inside, we will pass through a hallway with a very high ceiling. My suggestion is it's best to make a reservation in advance to save your table. Black Owl comes with a restaurant and bar concept, a very stunning interior with dominant dark colors such as black and dark wooden material throughout the large room. The dim lights look calm and elegant, and what's amazing is the giant LCD screen that stretches to the ceiling. There
