Chez Olivier, Tokyo, Japan

Bahasa l English

Travel to Tokyo became a dream destination for many people. Modern city with varied tourist spots starting from ancient cultures until place of modern innovation is epic. Do not forget you must list many food hunting interesting choices. On this chance, i visited a restaurant in the Chiyoda area, which is a central area in Tokyo. Chez Olivier is one of the restaurant listed in Michelin Guide Japan till present day. From the outside, there's a glass door with a red side that attracted attention when we pass through. The interior offers a cozy homey atmosphere with a touch of classy European style.
I had previously met Chef Olivier during his visit to Jakarta in collaboration with Chef Gilles Marx of Amuz Gourmet Jakarta. On this occasion it is my chance to visiting him at his restaurant to try straight away an interesting lunch set menu.
This lunch set consists of 3 menus starting from the starter, main course and dessert. Each visitor can choose between A, B and C menus with different options and numbers. Or we can also try the degustation menu which is typical of France with the number of up to 7 menu. One menu that must be tried is Wild sea trout, green asparagus bavarois, anise and preserved lemon.
Serve the fish with an impressive appearance. The combination of bright color elements with a very neat layer. Sea trout is a type of freshwater fish commonly found in several countries from the Black Sea to New Zealand, Chile, Argetina and other areas. The bright color and super-soft texture combined with anise with distinctive aroma, then the lemon elements that give the acid a freshness and complete with crispy asparagus piece.
For the main course, there is a special menu such as Chicken breast from Landes, ham and basil, leg stuffed with basquaise vegetables. A typical French dish with chicken from Landes, a region of France with a lively presentation. At first glance this dish looks like a forest theme with quinoa like a grass around. After the main course, it was dessert time. A blend of pepper, raspberry, tomato, strawberry and pistachios in one dessert.
Combination that produces unique flavors, fresh, fruity and the delicate pistachio flavor of creamy. The lunch experience at Chez Olivier becomes the spot dining you must visit when in Tokyo. Not necessarily Japanese culinary, you can also find other culinary options that are interesting and worth a try. With the quality of food and experience offered, Chez Olivier deserves to be on the Michelin Guide list.
In addition to the fairly standard offered prices ranging from ¥ 2,800 or about Rp 365,000, quite affordable isn't it for a Michelin Star restaurant. You should make a reservation in advance due to visitors who are quite crowded and places with seating capacity that is not too big like most restaurants in Japan.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
