AOKI, Gran Mahakam, South Jakarta

Bahasa l English

Nowadays it would be easy for us to find Japanese restaurants with unique and different concept variants. This time I had the opportunity to visit one Japanese restaurant that has been operating for a long time in a 5 star hotel. AOKI is an authentic Japanese restaurant located in the Gran Mahakam hotel. A butique hotel with a classy interior design and full of floral ornaments throughout the hotel. Do not forget I use the reservation feature of BigDish which is very helpful in the process of booking restaurants and attractive discounts.
AokI itself is built with the classic Japanese concept, dark dominant black color gives an elegant touch, large enough room with a very large private room area with different capacity. The menu offered here is a variety of Ă  la carte Japanese dishes. But at Sunday Brunch, diners can enjoy a variety of buffet dishes.
Lunch this time starts with something green and fresh ie Garden Salad. Salad with baby spinach mixed with sesame mayo sauce and baby tomato. The smell and the dominant sesame combined with the freshness of green vegetables is perfect. Do not forget the sour taste of the fresh baby tomato.
Followed by the second menu, Fresh Crab Handroll. The presentation of the roll is quite unique, using a mamenori wrapped in white rice with a crabmeat and a tuna cut with mayo sauce on it. The strong mayo taste almost covered up the taste of the tuna. The entire element of this dish is very tasty. But I do not think this is authentic Japanese taste and I would prefer to not use mayo sauce.
There is also a menu of various sushi such as Sakeyaki Maki, rolled shushi is which is equipped with pieces of salmon, avocado and red sauce special AOKI tasty. Then, there is also Crunchy Inari Sushi, a layer of fried crispy tofu wrapped rice with salmon skin crunchy and ebiko on top.
Menu that is not less interesting is Truffle Beef Bowl with a fragrant aroma. Consistent sliced beef, thin and very soft texture. The truffle feeling is quite dominant giving a satisfying sensation combined with warm white rice. For Soup Lovers, Japanese-style Shabu-shabu with a vegetarian broth will be the right choice.
Presented in a unique way, special paper for cooking with basket cooked without fire at all. Various vegetables should be included before the beef. After a few minutes, the meat is put on for a while until it is cooked and ready to serve. Soup that tastes plain to characterize the taste of the Japanese. For Indonesian people may feel tasteless, therefore available ponzu and gomadare sauce with different tasty character.
A cozy place, a tranquil atmosphere makes this lunch experience enjoyable. It's just that the room is dark enough so it takes a little effort to take good photos. A fairly standard price, many menus can be an option when looking for Japanese food, don't forget to use BigDish for exciting promotions and fast food presentation and serving is certainly a positive things for this restaurant.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
