Ramadan is already the third of the week, it doesn't
feel like time flies and Eid is not long enough to be welcomed. This month, my opportunity to break
the fast in several places was quite a different experience compared to a previous year where all people were prohibited from being dine-in due to the
pandemic in 2020.
I used to break the fast at the hotel, this time at one of my
favorite Turkish restaurants in Jakarta. Warung Turki has been established in 2015 where you will feel an interesting atmosphere like a house in
original Turkey. In this month of Ramadan, Warung Turki specifically serves a
set menu with a variety of Turkish specialties.
This set menu is complete from Appetizer, Main Course and
Dessert. There are 3 choices with different dish variants. This time I tried
Feast Set 3 with an appetizer: Hummus, a kind of savory jam made with Middle
Eastern beans. Then Babaganuc, processed eggplant that is baked until it is
smoky with a fresh taste. Gavurdagi Salatasi, this is a typical Turkish salad
with various ingredients such as cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, olive oil, nuts, and others. Gozleme Mini, a delicious Turkish-style filled flatbread. Chicken
Borek, this is also one of Turkey's favorite appetizers, pastry filled with
chicken.
After that proceed with the main menu which also consists of
several dishes: Butter Rice, Yayla Lamb, lamb meat that is processed into a
patty with fragrant herbs and spices and the right savory taste. Soğanlı Tavuk,
chicken with onions. Bademli Balik, salmon that has been marinated and then
grilled so that it has a fragrant aroma. Zeytinyağlı Fasulye, green beans cooked
with onions, olive oil, and tomatoes.
There always a time for dessert, Kunefe, a traditional Middle Eastern
dish using unleavened filo pastry which is usually used to make baklava with a
sweet taste and layer of Turkish cheese. It has a crunchy and cheesy texture
with the right creamy and sweet taste, it's really delicious to enjoy when it's
warm. This is my first time tasting this dish.
The overall experience of enjoying a meal here is always
memorable. Each dish uses ingredients that match Turkish dishes, as well as the
spices and seasonings used. Some of the ingredients are brought directly from
Turkey to maintain the original taste of food. This set menu costs IDR 350,000 ++
per person. With so many dishes, of course, a large serving for Indonesians.
Don't forget, this restaurant has instagramable photo spots that can be
interesting content and it's best to make reservations in advance.
