Harum Manis, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta

Bahasa l English

Indonesian restaurants remain excellent and a top choice for the Jakarta community, although with the appearance of many new restaurants both local and international brands. Harum manis is one restaurant that maintains their concept with a variety of authentic Indonesian cuisines. Restaurant with a spacious area and full of Indonesian ornaments make this restaurant very traditional. But of course, the elegant and luxurious side is clearly like a big house with charming local decorations.

In this month, I visited Harum Manis to taste a new dish called Kenduri Keraton. Menu with a variety of dishes from Javanese culture that used to be a favorite for the Royal Family. This menu is complete with a choice of 4 types of rice such as white rice, yellow rice, nasi uduk, and brown rice. Then 3 kinds of soup choices such as soto ayam, soto betawi and spicy sour rib eye soup.
Then the menu is added by so many dishes consisting of Solo sausages, Kemayu shrimp balls, Loempia Warisan Turun Temurun, Fried Ayam Selimut Lengkuas, Grilled Rendang Tali Jiwo, Fried Barramundi with Salted Egg, Pineapple and Honey Sauce, Chicken Skewers Mbok Ayu, Sugarcane Pentul Skewers, Putri Bali Skewers, Kleweran Skewers, Javanese Urap Veggies, and various crackers. A lot isn't it?! I can say that every dish is made from quality ingredients and with the experienced chef who has been long and expertly made Indonesian standard restaurant food is undoubtely.
For dessert, you can choose between Keputen Grilled Banana or Kopyor Ice and also included hot or ice tea. This menu set is priced at IDR 148,000++ per person and minimum 4 persons when ordering this one. Less than 4 persons, you still have to pay the same price. I think it is quite affordable talking about the serving is pretty large and many varieties of foods that enjoyable. Order rice differently, so you may taste each of it. They are only open from 11.30-15.00 and 17.30-23.00, in the afternoon they are temporarily closed.

Not to forget, the opening of several new restaurants has also colored the city of Jakarta recently. One of them is August, which is located in the Sudirman area, more precisely at Sequis Tower. This restaurant has opened on November 25th, 2021. The elegant and premium concept can be seen from the exterior and interior of the restaurant. The area is quite spacious with a charming bar in the front room, then an open kitchen which provides an interesting experience for guests to see the activities of the chefs in the lively kitchen. On weekends, you can see the number of guests filling the entire table, it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance . When I had dinner there, they happened to have no available alcohol because they were taking care of licensing and distribution issues. So I brought wine with a corkage fee of IDR 250,000

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
