Bagel Season, Union, Jakarta

Bahasa l English

This May, Union Jakarta, a well-known high-end dining, launched a new innovation. Perhaps you're already familiar with a bagel, but there's a new way to enjoy it here. At the time of launching, this Bagel is exclusively accessible at Union Plaza Senayan, from the front, you can see the Bagel Bar with a rather large showcase.
Bagels come in a variety of flavors, including plain, salt, parmesan, blueberry, chocolate chips, cinnamon raisin, and (Almost) Everything. Bagels are priced at IDR 25,000 per piece. The texture of the bagel varies from soft to chewy, and it is best savored warm rather than dry. In my perspective, the plain one is a wonderful, traditional, and basic bagel.

Even more interesting, here they also provide dipping sauce with various choices of Butter and Cheese Cream, there are also many choices, a variety of unique flavors that I have never seen before. Starting from the fragrant Chimichurri, the savory Alla Vodka, the spicy Scallion Chilli Oil to the creamy and legit Strawberry Swirl. To enjoy it, it can usually be added to a bagel, but there is something more interesting, that is by dipping the bagel into the sauce. The price of the sauce starts from IDR 60,000 / cup.

Commonly, bagels have a harder texture than bread, but the bagel here feels softer, and there is a chewy texture on the inside when torn apart. The size is also quite large. Another option is the Bagel Sandwich which is complete with garnish, such as Pastrami Reuben, Russian Dressing with Plain Bagel (IDR 240,000) the size is quite filling, and the quality of the pastrami served is also perfect.

For this bagel, it can be taken away or delivered but in my opinion, it is better to enjoy it directly dine-in, besides the texture of the bagel which is at risk of hardening, the cheese and buttercream are at risk of changing taste or being damaged if exposed to heat and too long at room temperature. Curious, right? Stop by at Union Plaza Senayan.

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors ...

Real Ingredients of Japan, Sushi Maru, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English 2022 is here! Welcoming the new year with joy and enthusiasm. This time I will tell you about a Japanese restaurant in the Golf Island area, PIK which is currently one of the trending destinations in Jakarta. It is undeniable that Japanese cuisine has indeed become one of Jakarta's society's favorites, so many Japanese restaurants can be found here. As a lover of authentic food, I really prefer Japanese restaurants that prioritize quality ingredients and classic tastes, although the current twist food variant is also very interesting. Sushi Maru has been operating since the end of 2021, with a Japanese feel in general using a wooden theme interior throughout the area. There are two floors with a large area capacity. But keep in mind, you should make a reservation before coming here, especially on weekends. One of the top menus here is Japanese Oyster, especially Reiwa Oyster, this dish is only available upon request. With a size that is much larger than the lo...
