Kam's Roast Goose, Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Bahasa l English

Hong Kong has always been an attractive destination to visit especially with a large number of Michelin Star restaurants that are popular and certainly awesome. After traveling around China for 1 more week, I visited Hong Kong a few days at the beginning of 2019. This time I stopped by a restaurant listed in the Hong Kong Macau Michelin Guide for several years in a row since 2015 until now with 1 Michelin Star .
Kam's Roast Goose was originally built by Mr. Kam Shui Fai and his father Kam Kinsen Kwan Sing. In 1942, with the name Yung Kee Restaurant and it turned out to succeed until its name soared to internationally. With hard work and high enthusiasm, they maintain the family legacy of Kam until the 3rd generation to the present day by Mr. Hadry Kam.
Visiting this casual eatery, you will be surprised by the super long queues since the morning until the evening. Make sure when you arrive there, register first in front of the outlet and pick up the queue number. After that, you can enter the queue and wait for it to be called. You need to know, with Hong Kong culture there will be no super friendly and smiling or informative service, so you will need more careful effort to see the condition of the restaurant.
It was nice when I visited Kam's Roast Goose at night, the queue was still visible but not too long. It's just that at night they don't receive dine-in guests so you have to take away and at least order half the goose which is approximately HKD 270 ++. Fortunately again it turned out I was given the opportunity to dine-in for no reason, without even thinking I went straight into the restaurant.
Visitors are super crowded and as usual, the guests will sit next to other unknown guests on one table. I only ordered half a goose without another menu because indeed one-half portion is very large. Once served, the fragrant aroma of roasted goose and thick brown color looks tempting.
Soft goose meat texture, very distinctive aroma and savory goose fat felt in every bite. With a clear sauce and a salty taste add to the more savory taste. This menu is served with a plum sauce which feels unique and gives a sense of balance. Currently Kam's Roast is also available in Jakarta, but unfortunately, goose meat is not allowed into Indonesia so you will only find a menu of duck meat in the Jakarta branch.
For goose meat lovers, Kam's Roast Goose can be an option to visit. Make sure you arrive early in the morning or in the afternoon around 2-5pm where visitors will be less than at mealtime. A menu other than the roast goose, you can try roasted pork, soya chicken or pork belly.

Black Owl, PIK, Jakarta

Bahasa l English A favorite destination for the Jakarta community, which is famous for its hawker centers, from street food, restaurants to elegant lounge bars. This week, another good news for restaurant and bar fans, Black Owl is back in operation from the previous location in the PIK 1 area, now they are presented new location with a different concept. As soon as you pass through this area, you can clearly see the Black Owl with a black building with an owl logo on it. Seen the parking area is quite large and still not too crowded during the day. Once inside, we will pass through a hallway with a very high ceiling. My suggestion is it's best to make a reservation in advance to save your table. Black Owl comes with a restaurant and bar concept, a very stunning interior with dominant dark colors such as black and dark wooden material throughout the large room. The dim lights look calm and elegant, and what's amazing is the giant LCD screen that stretches to the ceiling. There

Tom's by Tom Aikens, The Langham Jakarta

Bahasa l English A sunny weekend where the pandemic conditions in Indonesia have been getting better lately. Activities in public spaces are getting normal, so we can find some places with crowds. One of them is this restaurant which took a few weeks for me to make a reservation in advance because it was full every weekend. The Langham Jakarta has only been operating this year and has attracted great enthusiasm from Jakarta's community. No exception with the restaurant which was built with a luxurious British concept and developed by a chef from England, Tom Aikens who manages a Michelin Star restaurant in London. Carrying the name Tom's by Tom Aikens with a variety of classic British dishes. The location of this restaurant is on the L floor, the reception area, and arguably the 62nd floor. A restaurant with a large enough area capacity, high ceilings, touches of white, blue, red sofas, and gold-tone lamps give the room an English-style atmosphere. Seen quite crowded visitors
