This evening i am having another dinner together with crazy friends from Pergi Kuliner (www.pergikuliner.com) as usual, we always need to be very loud and talk about everything of foods, restaurant and bunch of jokes.
We are going to try new trend restaurant that has been happening in town called Rumah Kayu. It is spotted at Ancol, North Jakarta. Anyway, you need to pay for Rp. 25,000 to get inside this area and Rp 20,000 for parking. I am not sure where is it actually the location, but just wheel around the area, should found this restaurant.
Basicly, Rumah Kayu is typical Indonesian restaurant with wooden concept and Indonesia ambience. But what unique is, they now have dinner spot inside the airplane. A real airplane is standing just right there with complete body and modification inside.
Well it looks like an old plane, you may see it from the cockpit airplane. It looks been dusty and it is quite messy actually.
But they sure prepare a nice place for dinner with exclusive ambience, white tables, white chair just like i am inside the private jet.
For your information, once we get inside here, minimum people should be 4 person for one table and it would costing about Rp 600,000 for the set menu. It is categorized in 4 kind of set menu i.e. cabin A to cabin D. Each menu has different choices from the appetizers, main course and dessert. For drink, all are same with various of juices.
Set Menu A is consisted of: Asparagus Soup, Fried Bean Curd, Gurame in Mango Sauce, Sauteed Vegetables, Prawn in Padang Sauce, Fried Crab and Red Bean Ice.
The asparagus soup is taste kind of sweet even too much somehow. But the ingredients is good enough. The fried bean curd has crunchy texture and beautiful color, but how sad it is too plain. Even with the sauce, not much taste i could have from it.
Gurame in Mango Sauce also not really fascinating, even though it has stunning presentation, but it taste too sweet and mango doesn't have any strong touch in it than the sauce.
Nothing much to describe about this sauteed vegie, it is under seasoning though. But at least, it has beautiful color.
Then the Prawn in padang sauce also not really pleasure enough, when the sauce is too sweet and nothing special taste from it.
Ok, i'll just continue to telling about another set menu Cabin C consisted of: Vegetable Soup, Sweet and Sour Prawn, Grilled Chicken, Sauteed Broccoli, Crispy Calamari, Kwee Fish in Dabu Dabu and Strawberry Ice. Overall, much same with the Cabin A, which is food are not consistent. Some are underseasoning and others could be too sweet and sour.
In my description, i think they should have fix the taste of their foods. They sure have nice place and ambiance for customer could enjoy dinner or lunch inside the airplane, it is such a unique stuff to have. But with food not much taste and flavor i think it is not much recommended for you food lover.
But for break out your curiousity to have dinner on airplane, this is the only place you could try in town so far.
